Shikha, Ransa and Sikshasandhan
‘Sikha’ is a bimonthly magazine. It was born with the purpose of expressing the experiences of teachers and workers working with education, learning about the worldwide experiments and the events happening on education in one place. It has been published since 1996. Except 2016, this magazine has been published every year. It could not maintain its regularity due to various reasons. Apart from that there is a gap in the magazine regarding the year and issue. However, it is very popular among the teachers and educationists.
‘Ransa’ is a bilingual quarterly childrens’ magazine published by ‘Sikshasandhan’, an organization working towards primary education in tribal areas. It has illustrated stories and songs in both odia and ho languages. The odia alphabets are used as the script of the ho language. This magazine is published with the aim of providing educational materials in one’s mother tongue. It contains the writings of the teachers and the children.
On February 9 ,1995, ‘Sikshasandhan’ was officially registered as a tool center for education. Prof. Chittaranjan Das, a noted literary figure was the founder president and Achyut Das, an eminent social worker was the founder-member-secretary of this organisation. From 1986 to 1998, Professor Khageswar Mohapatra was its President. After him since 1998 Jatindra kumar Nayak, Professor of Eng department in Utkal University and renowned translator and critic, has been its President. Similarly, Anil Pradhan has been working as its member – secretary since 1996. Sikshasandhan is engaged in establishment of alternative education centers, establishment of libraries, publication of books, training of voluntary organisation workers and skill development work.
