Mulyayan
Prafulla Kumar Jagadeb (31-3-1943 to 26-11-2001) launch the Odia literary magazine in 1976 with an aim of reviewing the various aspects of modern Odia literature. It featured critical writings on language, literature, books, poetry etc.
Because of irregular publication its 24 issues have spanned 26 years (1976-2001). Although its primary focus was on review of modern Odia literature almost all issues carried criticism on poetry. Some of the issues stressed on particular writers or themes like Schchidananda Rautray, Guru Prasad Mohanty, Drama, Bhanja literature and Ramakant Rath’s long poem ‘Bagha Shikara’.
Seminars on literary issues and on writers were organised at various times by the publishing team. A publishing unit named ‘Mahanadi Books’ has been associated with this magazine which was first published from Cuttack and later from bhubaneswar. It has established a special place for itself in the field of literary criticism because of its strong and independent opinion.
